“Nature is beautiful, art is beautiful, both belong together.”
Friedensreich Hundertwasser
Not disparagingly but rather affectionately, Wolfgang Lamché refers to his bronze animal sculptures as “Viecher” (Beasts). Even after 30 years, it still gives him untold pleasure to capture Nature’s creatures in bronze and in a way that is true to the specific character of the species. Whether life-size or as a miniature – he draws on plentiful resources, and is himself a creator.
The modelling and sculpting of animals requires the artist to intensively study the respective species and their anatomy as well as precisely observe the behavioural patterns and sequence of motions. Thanks to the specific artistic signature of Wolfgang Lamché, outstanding works of art are then produced.
In the history of sculpture – from classical antiquity to the present day – there have and always will be examples of renowned artists who from time to time leave their preferred stylistic paths to devote themselves to realistic animal sculpture – often astounding the critics and delighting observers throughout the world in the process.
Assisted by his longstanding colleague, Bea Wiesner, Lamché has modelled over 170 animal bronzes in his studio to date. The sculptures are cast in bronze as strictly limited editions in tried-and-tested art foundries using the sand, ceramic or lost-wax casting process.
In the home, garden and any other place where people spend time, his animal sculptures become fascinating points of focus that increase in value.
